UK solar demand Is about to spike (this changes everything)
This one wasn’t planned.
I woke up to multiple clients sending me the same article, all published late last night.
That’s usually a sign something meaningful has shifted.
And it has.
Government backing for residential solar is no longer vague or implied.
It’s explicit.
Grants for lower-income households.
Accessible finance for higher-income households.
Clear intent to drive adoption at scale.
For installers already operating, this probably isn’t shocking.
It’s exactly where the market has been heading.
But for anyone sitting on the sidelines — or not operationally ready — this is the moment that separates those who benefit from the surge, and those who get overwhelmed by it.
The installers who win aren’t the ones who react fastest.
They’re the ones who prepared earliest.
Lead backlogs.
Email lists.
CRMs full of warm opportunities.
Processes that don’t break under pressure.
This video isn’t a framework or a playbook.
It’s a signal.
And signals like this don’t come often.
For context, this video was originally recorded on 26 December 2025, views & strategies may have changed since.

Good evening. Happy Saturday evening. I’m here with almost a newsflash — the first *Solar on Steroids* news episode. We’ve got breaking news. Hopefully the editor — which is me — can add some nice breaking-news graphics.
This article was published very late last night, around 10 p.m. I didn’t see it until I woke up this morning, and I had several messages from different clients all sending me the same article. So I clearly need to stay more on top of the news. But this is absolutely huge, and it’s exactly what we’ve been expecting in the market.
For our clients and potential prospects — solar installers already in the space — this probably isn’t shocking. But for people outside the industry, or those looking to move into it, like electricians wanting to add solar to their repertoire, this is where the industry is heading. The government is placing major emphasis on growth across the entire sector — utility-scale, commercial, and now clearly residential as well.
The key point I want to make is that this is only going to get better. If you can dial in your processes now, generate a backlog of leads now, build an email list, and maintain a well-organised CRM filled with opportunities that are hovering — people who are interested but haven’t yet had a strong enough incentive to pull the trigger — then when something like this drops, you’re perfectly positioned.
What we’re seeing with the government’s warm homes plan is that poorer households can receive full grants to cover installations, similar to the current ECO4 scheme. Meanwhile, wealthier households will have access to affordable finance options that cover the upfront cost while still reducing their energy bills from day one.
If you’re ready to capitalise on that, it’s game over. Every installer should be thinking about how they either bring demand-capture skills in-house or who they partner with to do it properly. You need someone who understands the solar market deeply — someone who’s already specialised and ready — rather than a provider who only jumps in once the buzz hits and then has to learn the nuances from scratch.
One of my favourite examples is when you still have to explain, three months in, that battery storage can be sold standalone. That’s not who you want to rely on when demand spikes. You need plans in place now so you can capture demand as soon as it comes through.
Honestly, this feels like a fantastic Christmas present for the industry and an amazing way to start the year. It shows that the people at the top — the decision-makers — are on our side and actively supporting this transition. Yes, there have been concerns around budget cuts, and sometimes it doesn’t feel like the support is there, but overall things are looking very positive.
I just wanted to jump on and do a quick newsflash. There’s no real guidance or actionable framework in this one, but there will be tomorrow. Appreciate your time, and I’ll see you in the next one.
