Why location pages work so well for solar installers
It’s 9:10pm.
Joe’s gone to bed.
I forgot to film content earlier.
So here we are.
This video is about location pages — and why they’re far more powerful for solar installers than most people realise.
We’re seeing installers rank number one for high-intent searches like “solar panels Buckinghamshire” and “best solar installer [town]” using a very simple structure: real locations, real case studies, and pages that actually deserve to rank.
No SEO tricks.
No filler pages.
Just properly linked location pages built off genuine installs, feeding authority back into the rest of the site.
I walk through a live example, how we decide which towns and counties to build pages for, and why Google is now lifting text directly from these pages and using it as featured snippets.
If you’re already installing in these areas, this is work you should have done years ago.
For context, this video was originally recorded on 1 January 2025, views & strategies may have changed since.

Good evening. I am back. Hope you missed me. I know you didn’t. I’ve been on it every day. [laughter]
Today we’re going to be talking about location pages. I forgot to do content, so it’s 9:10 p.m. and I’m now sat in front of the camera while Joe’s going to bed, which is very frustrating. But we’re going to talk about how location pages can be incredibly powerful for you as a solar installer.
As an installer, you have a service area. You have towns, counties, and cities within that service area. You should make individual pages that cater to search queries — people searching for specific terms that relate to those service areas.
So this is Chilton Solar’s website. We’ve got the counties nicely laid out across the top here. Then we’ve got the towns beneath here, and we’re going to be consistently contributing to these.
The methodology behind which towns, cities, and counties we include comes from the projects and case studies. Whenever a case study is created from a specific town — so this one, for example, I believe it’s Buckinghamshire — we will then create a location page that includes that case study. Right? Then you’ve got the Buckinghamshire page and you’ve got the NEC case study. These are so powerful.
We’ve only really just started to experience how powerful these can be because we more so focus on ads. So if we search for “best solar installer in Buckinghamshire” and scroll down a bit, Google has actually taken what they call a featured snippet — taken text from chiltonsolar.co.uk and used that to describe what the best solar installer in Buckinghamshire is. So they are literally citing Chilton Solar as to why Chilton Solar are the best solar installer. It’s utterly fantastic, to be honest.
You click on the page and Google even highlights the section that has the text that has been ranking for that term. It’s incredible — and these pages don’t take too long to set up.
The power comes from the fact that they’re linked to all the other places on the website. You’ve got all the case studies feeding through. You can click onto any one of these case studies and get the full breakdown, all the images, the project write-up, who it was installed and commissioned by, etc., and it all links together really nicely.
That is basically it. Very short video today, but I just want to share that if you’re not currently doing this — if you’re looking to add to your website or you’re looking to get a new website built — talk to us instead of everyone else. We actually know how to build these sites. We’ve built 16 of them.
Consider adding this in because it’s a crucial piece and it’s going to allow you to rank super well for terms like “solar panels Buckinghamshire.” We search that up: we’ve got Chilton Solar number one on maps, and we’ve got them number one on the actual search listing.
If we go “Hertford,” I can pretty much guarantee it’s a very similar story — Hertford number one, pretty easy.
Bedfordshire: these are terms that are getting a very solid amount of queries behind them every single month. We’re ranking third behind two council websites, which unsurprisingly have very high authority — so we’re the top solar installer for that.
What other places could I… Let’s do something much more niche, much more specific. Let’s do High Wycombe. Let’s see if that one works. We are number two. Oh, Kimble Tech — we’re coming for you. We’re coming for you. We’ll get you soon. Watch your back. Watch your back.
All right, brief interlude: I actually just slowed down the footage and Chilton Solar are ranking number one and number three. If you look very closely, you can see there’s actually a search listing above the maps pack, which is organic and not a paid ad. So Chilton Solar are ranking number one for that term as well, even though I thought they weren’t. And they’ve sandwiched — they’re also ranking number three. I’ll slow the footage down so you can see it now.
So if you want a website built that allows you to rank for those very high-intent, highly relevant keywords — and pages that people actually go to to back up that ranking — by having pages that convert very, very effectively with tools like the instant quote tool (that Chilton have already booked three surveys from this week), then you should probably reach out to us and we’ll help you do that.
So that’s all from me for now. Happy New Year. It is New Year’s evening and I am unfortunately going to bed because I’ve got to run at 5:00 a.m. tomorrow. It is very boring, but it is also very, very rewarding when our clients get results like this.
So I’m just going to keep cracking on — and so is Joe. Cool. Catch you in the next one. Thanks for now. Bye.
